Two Brothers United to Solve the Skills Crisis
Years of Phone Calls Led to Action
For years, brothers Dan Stolts and Aaron Silkwood talked on the phone several times a week, venting their frustrations about their respective industries. Dan, with 30+ years in enterprise technology and newly mastered AI expertise, was watching the tech industry struggle with skills gaps at every level. Aaron, with 30 years as a master mechanic, was watching young technicians sit in their trucks for hours, playing on their phones because they didn't know what to do - so they didn't even try.
Both brothers were dealing with the same problem from different angles: businesses trying to operate with inexperienced workers right out of high school who lacked the skills, knowledge, and confidence to do the work. Dan saw it in IT departments across the country. Aaron saw it in repair shops every single day. During their calls, they'd discuss solutions, share frustrations, and dream about fixing these broken systems.
Dan's Vision: Democratizing IT
What Aaron didn't know was that Dan had already been working on a solution. For months, Dan had been building an AI framework for computer and networking repair - a platform designed to democratize IT by giving smaller businesses access to enterprise-level diagnostic capabilities. By late 2024, he was approximately 65% complete.
But as he listened to Aaron's frustrations week after week, Dan realized something bigger: the framework he was building for IT could be expanded to work for any industry. The underlying AI training concepts were universal. He just needed to prove it.
The Breaking Point
By early 2025, the crisis had become unbearable. The field service industry needed 795,000 technicians it couldn't find. Experienced mechanics were retiring with no one to replace them. Meanwhile, Dan had become an AI expert and realized the technology was finally ready to solve these problems.
The Decision
The brothers knew they had to move beyond phone calls. Dan went to follow Aaron at work for several weeks, watching firsthand as technicians sat idle, diagnoses failed, and shops lost money. He saw young workers paralyzed by uncertainty, experienced mechanics overwhelmed by complexity, and Aaron's genius for process optimization constrained by lack of technology.
After those weeks together, they looked at each other and said: "Let's make it happen."
The Strategic Pivot
Dan made a bold decision: put his nearly-complete IT consulting AI on hold and expand the underlying platform to serve any industry. Together, Dan and Aaron evaluated potential markets - Auto, RV, Heavy Equipment, and Marine (all areas where Aaron held certifications and deep expertise).
Dan wasn't a stranger to these industries. As a young man, he'd been a trained heavy equipment operator and worked for automotive repair shops, so he understood those challenges firsthand. He'd also spent countless hours on boats with friends - helping with setup, breakdown, end-of-year winterizing, and learning the unique demands of watercraft. But of all the sectors, marine was by far his least understood business.
To truly understand the marine repair world, Dan and Aaron made a bold move in February 2025: they bought a 48' yacht together. Living the ownership experience showed Dan just how different marine repair is from any other industry - the complexity, the specialized knowledge required, and why shops struggle so much.
They already had Computer/IT mostly built out, but the severity of the skills crisis in mechanical trades convinced Dan to go all-in on Aaron's sectors first. Dan wanted to prove he could build a platform that could be leveraged regardless of the line of business - and Marine, his least familiar area, became the ultimate proving ground.
Four Months of Planning Before Writing Code
But the brothers didn't rush. From January to May 2025, they planned meticulously before writing a single line of code. They worked on product planning, user stories, and prioritizing capabilities. They mapped every workflow, documented every pain point, and designed solutions for each problem. While other startups would have been frantically coding and pivoting, Dan and Aaron were building the blueprint for success.
They invested their own time and money, refining the vision without outside pressure. This wasn't a startup built on assumptions - it was engineered from decades of experience and months of careful planning.
Only when they were investing so much that legal structure became necessary did they formally incorporate in July 2025. By then, they weren't starting a company - they were launching a fully-architected revolution with every detail planned.
Together, they saw what no one else could: the opportunity to build a state-of-the-art platform that would fundamentally change how service is delivered through the power of AI.
July 2025: JIT AI is Formally Born
After months of planning, product development, and personal investment, the brothers incorporated JIT AI in Delaware - the standard choice for companies built to scale. Their bold mission: solve the technician crisis by making every technician twice as productive through AI.
But unlike Silicon Valley startups building in isolation, Dan and Aaron took a different approach:
- •Acquired an established MSP (JIT Solutions IT) to have immediate revenue and real customers
- •Partnered with United Rentals to validate the AI platform with Fortune 500 mechanics
- •Built THREE business lines simultaneously - because transformation requires foundation
The Speed of Experience
Most startups take years to find product-market fit. Dan and Aaron compressed that to months. Why? Because they weren't learning the problems - Aaron had catalogued them for 30 years. They weren't guessing at solutions - Aaron knew exactly what was needed, and Dan knew exactly how to build it.
Aaron's Role:
- • Identified every process bottleneck
- • Documented every efficiency loss
- • Catalogued every diagnostic failure pattern
- • Industry credibility opened doors
Dan's Role:
- • Translated blueprints into scalable AI
- • Made the impossible possible
- • Built enterprise-grade architecture
- • Technology expertise execution
Together: Perfect product-market fit from day one.
